Botanarchyis a repository of remedies, recipes, and lore, harnessing homegrown methods for healing, homemaking, and enchantment. It rejoices in the archaic and the alembic, celebrating the cacophonous chaos and arboreal awesomeness found in the wisdom of plant magic & medicine. An homage to the cabalistic power of plants, Botanarchy bows down before their profound provocations of healing and gnosis, for those who seek out the magic in the Milkwort, the mysteries in the Mandrake, the lasciviousness in the Lichen, and the ecstasy in the Eucalyptus.
About The Herbalist, Carolyn Barron
An apostle to the ancients, I am an Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and student of Traditional Chinese Medicine based out of Los Angeles, CA. Enshrined in my temple of saps, twigs, roots and resins, the gristle of my life has been teaching myself and others how to master the arcane as a vehicle for self-healing and self-reliance. Committed to destroying the institutionalized lies our culture propagates about food, wellness, consciousness and the body, I teach my clients self-governance through ritual and DIY medicine, as tools of healing, self-care, body mastery, and eradication of externally-imposed dogma. I have spent nearly 10 years in a clinical setting, supporting patients and their families through nutrition, needles, and natural medicine. Fascinated by the intersection of magic and medicine, I’ve often found that ‘healing’ a health crisis by unorthodox means often serves as one’s inadvertent initiation into the magical arts, an inaugural witnessing of the ‘miraculous’ that begs the systematic questioning of our assumed natural laws, all the while giving the finger to Western allopathic claptrap. I’m also a rogue distiller, maverick mycophile, wild witch, fervent forager, and purveyor of potions, medicinals, tonics, and tinctures culled from the annals of pan-cultural herbal alchemy. These can be found at various apothecaries, and online at the Botanarchy Etsy Shop.
